Based on the hypothesis of a circulation between practices, men and discourses related to soccer and the various forms of violence Rwanda endured between 1990 and 1994, this article is an attempt to tell the history of this sport during the four years preceding the genocide of the Tutsi. Particularly influenced by the political context, the rise of anti-tutsi propaganda and the civil war, the evolution of soccer enables us to see in a new light the question of the creation of the Interahamwe militia, which played an important role in the massacres during the spring of 1994.
