Résumé
The use and creation of emoticons in China are linked not only to the latest events but also to traditional Chinese culture. Emoticons as a whole (emoticons, smileys and emojis) are part of the communication dynamic brought by the evolution of digital practices, allowing, very quickly, the expression of emotions and the subjectivity of the speaker. As a matter of economy, Chinese Internet users employ either typographic emoticons largely inspired by manga and 2D animations or very polysemic iconographic emoticons to express various emotions with a great humor and irony.
