We invited students preparing for the eps aggregation examination at the École normale supérieure in Rennes to adopt singular strategies for listening to music during two periods of their preparation. The results reveal a progressive tendency to use music outside working hours to brighten up daily life, and a predominantly positive role of music in the emotional experience of “normalien” students. Listening to music can help students improve their experience of this particularly demanding exam preparation.
