Son œuvre d’ethnologue en porte témoignage. Cet article est un hommage à sa curiosité et à son empathie pour les populations bordant le lac Tchad.

Jean Chapelle, an officer in the French camel corps, discovered black Africa in 1927 and fell hopelessly in love with it, finding out about the customs and learning about other courtesies, as shown by his work as an ethnologist. This article is a tribute to his curiosity and his empathy for the populations living around Lake Chad.
