The emancipation of all through art is part of a great political utopia, but it cannot be anything other than a horizon. Art and the choice of art are part of a regime of singularity. However, do they not serve as examples? The emblematic figure of the hip-hop dancer, descendant of postcolonial immigration, passing from the street, from the “neighborhood”, to the forecourt of the opera house and then to the stage itself illustrates it. In those who have achieved full recognition as artists, their career, their purpose and the work of biography to which they give rise are formulated in the language of emancipation. It is therefore necessary to question the articulation between recognition, recognition of their contributions in the sphere of reciprocal recognition according to Axel Honneth, the social and cultural sphere, and emancipation through art. It is also worth considering the choice of dance as a means of emancipation. We can see there a choice for free movement, for movement as an endless end, movement at the heart of choreographic modernity according to Jacques Rancière and manifestation of the autonomy of art.
