Les marques de l’interrogation en birifor

Résumé 0

This paper focuses on birifor interrogation. Birifor is a variant of dagara, a Gur language spoken in Burkina Faso and Ghana. The study aims to report on the functioning of the different strategies of construction of interrogative sentences in this speech. The analysis examines more precisely the characteristics of the different types of questions, namely total questions, partial questions, alternative questions and echo questions. Based on data from field surveys, the analysis made it possible to identify the different means of construction according to the type of questions. Among other things, it involves the intonation change accompanied by the lengthening of the vowel of the syllable of the last word, the use of an interrogative marker and the affixing of mutually exclusive propositions.
