Monuments tell stories and bear testament to history. In Switzerland, some monuments commemorate aid that was given to refugees and stories of escaping WWII. Others honour the victims of the Holocaust in a more general sense. Unlike the major commemorative monuments or information centres in neighbouring countries, however, Switzerland’s monuments are subtle and discreet, and their existence is largely unknown.
