Monique Héritier, « Péninsule ibérique : émiettement du pouvoir politique et concentration du pouvoir économique », Textes et contextes, ID : 10670/1.samu3t
The Spanish Constitution of 1978 asserts both “the indissoluble unity of the Nation” and the “right of self-government for nationalities and regions”, a constitutional contradiction which, in fact, disperses political power. In the economic sphere, however, the trend is to concentrate power in wider groups, going beyond the political notions of “regions” and “nation”.In the Iberian Peninsula, which is a clear geographical unit, the economic trend, for the last twenty years, has seen the growth of Spain’s leadership. The question can thus be raised: has a new economic identity emerged within this geographical unit?
