Résumé
The emerging figure of the caregiver attests to contemporary developments in the social State. Based on an ethnographic and statistical study, this article introduces the logics driving certain employers to foster its emergence : the extent of market exposure, company size, the history of company investment in social support, and the presence of caregivers in the institution. It describes the topography of the practices emanating from such factors, from indifference to the transfer of resources.
