Aux États-Unis, une sociologie cognitive s’est récemment développée, dans le sillage de la sociologie culturelle, et plus particulièrement du courant « Culture and Cognition ». Omar Lizardo, sociologue à l’Université de Californie à Los Angeles, revient sur ces développements scientifiques, auxquels il a directement contribué. C’est pour lui l’occasion de réfléchir aux logiques de construction d’objet en sciences sociales, aux liens entre (neuro)psychologie et sociologie, ainsi qu’aux façons de penser et de mesurer l’incorporation de dispositions cognitives.

Cognitive sociology recently emerged in the United-States in the wake of cultural sociology, and more specifically of the “Culture and Cognition” current. Omar Lizardo, a sociologist at the University of California Los Angeles, revisits these scientific developments to which he directly contributed. It is an opportunity for him to reflect on the rationale behind the construction of objects in the social sciences, the relationship between (neuro-) psychology and sociology, as well as the ways of thinking and assessing the incorporation of cognitive dispositions.
