On propose dans cet article une « relecture » des analyses concernant certains opérateurs. Cette relecture, fondée sur les grandes fonctionnalités d’une parole inscrite dans l’interlocution, telles qu’elles furent identifiées dès le début du xxe siècle, conduit à :- montrer que les opérateurs analysés sont, quels que soient les ‘angles d’attaques’ (logique, linguistique, pragmatique), fondamentalement stables dans la fonction principale qu’ils accomplissent.- permettre une reclassification des opérateurs, entendus au sens large comme opérateurs argumentatifs, eu égard aux quatre fonctions que la langue accomplit (dénoter le réel ; décrire le cheminement d’une pensée ; présenter un état, attitude etc. du locuteur ; agir sur l’interlocuteur).

Argumentative Operators and Language StrategiesThis article presents a « re-reading » of the analyses of certain operators, based on the broad functionalities of a word in the interlocution as these were defined in the early years of this century. This re-reading shows that the analysed operators remain basically stable in their principal function, regardless of the ‘angle of attack’, be it logical, linguistic or pragmatic. An advantage of this re-reading is a reclassification of operators under the broader heading of argumentative operators, according to the four functions of language (to denote reality, to describe a train of thought, to convey a state or an attitude of the speaker, etc., to produce an effect on the interlocutor).
