Les élections du 26 septembre devraient permettre aux Grünen, depuis 16 ans dans l’opposition au niveau fédéral, d’entrer enfin au gouvernement. C’est une victoire en demi-teinte pour ceux qui, en 2011 suite à la catastrophe de Fukushima et à l’élection du premier ministre-président vert, avaient déjà été qualifiés de nouveau « parti de rassemblement » de la gauche parlementaire mais n’étaient parvenus à leurs fins ni en 2013 ni en 2017. Le score obtenu de 14,8 % place le parti fondé en 1980 en troisième position et suscite auprès de l’électorat vert un sentiment de déception au regard des sondages du printemps dernier ainsi que de l’objectif de campagne, qui était l’élection de la première chancelière verte. Ce résultat consacre néanmoins la mutation et la professionnalisation d’un parti qui a su, au fil des années, changer de discours et de stratégie, pour occuper aujourd’hui au sein du paysage politique allemand une place de pivot. Entamées par une rencontre préliminaire entre FDP et Grünen, les négociations en vue de la formation d’une coalition « feux tricolores » prouvent l’esprit de compromis des écologistes, conscients de leur responsabilité mais aussi persuadés que le « gouvernement du climat » qu’ils appellent de leurs vœux ne pourra se faire sans leur participation.

The elections on 26 September should finally allow the Greens, who have been in opposition at the federal level for 16 years, to enter government. This is both a victory and a disillusionment for the party, which in 2011, after the Fukushima disaster and the election of the first ever Green Minister-President of any German state, had already been called “the new Volkspartei” of the parliamentary left, but had not achieved its goal in 2013 or 2017. The result of 14.8% puts the party, founded in 1980, in third place and triggers a feeling of disappointment among the Green electorate in view of last spring’s polls as well as the announced campaign goal, which was the election of the first Green chancellor. At the same time, however, the result confirms the transformation and professionalisation of the Greens, who have changed their discourse and strategy over the years and now occupy a central role in the German political landscape. The negotiations on a “traffic light coalition”, which began after preliminary talks between the FDP and the Greens, show the willingness to compromise of the ecological party, which is aware of its responsibility but is also convinced that the “climate government” they wish for Germany cannot come about without its participation.

Die Wahlen am 26. September dürften den Grünen, die seit 16 Jahren auf Bundesebene in der Opposition sind, endlich den Eintritt in die Bundesregierung ermöglichen. Ihr Wahlergebnis ist zugleich ein Sieg und eine Ernüchterung für die Partei, die 2011 nach der Katastrophe von Fukushima und der Wahl des ersten grünen Ministerpräsidenten bereits als „die neue Volkspartei“ der parlamentarischen Linken bezeichnet worden war, Ihr Ziel aber weder 2013 noch 2017 erreicht hatte. Mit 14,8 % erreichte die 1980 gegründete Partei den dritten Platz, was bei der grünen Wählerschaft angesichts der Umfragen vom letzten Frühjahr sowie des angekündigten Wahlkampfziels aus, das die Wahl der ersten grünen Kanzlerin war, ein Gefühl der Enttäuschung auslöste. Das Ergebnis bestätigt jedoch zugleich den Wandel und die Professionalisierung der Grünen, die im Laufe der Jahre ihren Diskurs und ihre Strategie geändert haben und heute eine zentrale Rolle in der deutschen politischen Landschaft einnehmen. Die Verhandlungen über eine Ampelkoalition, die nach einem Vorgespräch zwischen FDP und Grünen begannen, zeigen die Kompromissbereitschaft der ökologischen Partei, die sich ihrer Verantwortung bewusst ist, aber auch davon überzeugt ist, dass die von ihr geforderte „Klimaregierung“ nicht ohne ihre Beteiligung zustande kommen kann.
