I first came across Kay Boyle when I was researching my first novel, The Joyce Girl. I knew very little about Boyle, but she turned out to be a vital source, one of the most trustworthy voices I encountered on my long journey to uncover the hidden story of James Joyce’s daughter, Lucia.
