À la fin du xxe siècle, la question de la planification économique semblait définitivement réglée. Contre le plan, le marché avait emporté une victoire décisive. Trente ans après la chute du mur, les débats concernant la planification opèrent pourtant un retour en force dans les champs académique et politique. Cet article interroge le renouveau actuel de ces débats, et demande en particulier dans quelle mesure les nouvelles technologies de l’information – Internet, algorithmes, big data – permettront à l’avenir de résoudre certaines des déficiences de la planification économique.

At the end of the 20th century, economic planning appeared to be obsolete. In the opposition between the market and the plan, the market had won a decisive victory. Thirty years after the fall of the Berlin wall, debates about economic planning are however back, both in academic and in political circles. In this article, our aim is to point to the factors underlying the current revival of these debates and, beyond that, to argue that the new technologies of information – Internet, algorithms, big data – could in the future help us resolve some of the main deficiencies associated with economic planning.
