It is a way of thinking which does not renew the Cartesian division of the body (divisible) and the mind (indivisible). Lacan, following Freud’s theory of a spatiality of the psyche, explored the topological foundations. There is a body of the Other and it is in terms of knots that we consider space. This partakes of the moments of the division of the subject. The knowledge about truth which arises, in a formation of the unconscious, is itself divided by the truth and this “relation” writes in mathematical terms. Topology, according to Lacan, constitutes a new writing which stems from the analytical discourse. It is a writing which possesses certain characteristics : they are bits of writing, they do not form a system and do not necessarily link up together, despite various attempts at joining. Several writings can take up the same subject, but is it really the same ? There are transformations of writings which call into question the dogma of the identity of the letter.
