The Tell el-Daba Documentation Archive is a digital archive for resources from the Austrian long-term fieldwork project in Tell el-Daba, Egypt. The archive was created within the framework of the project `A Puzzle in 4D´ (Austrian Fund for Research, Technology & Development (DH 2014/12)), in which the documentation materials available at the Institute for Oriental and European Archaeology (OREA) at the Austrian Academy of Sceinces (ÖAW) were prepared for digital archiving. Further documentation is available at the Austrian Archaeological Institute (ÖAI) in Cairo and at the ÖAI in Vienna. The archive forms the basis for the archiving of further documents, which will result from future projects. The excavations in Tell el-Daba, Egypt, from 1966 to today (with a brief break due to the Arab-Israeli war of 1970-1975) were carried out by the ÖAI under the direction of Manfred Bietak and his successor Irene Forstner-Müller. Field investigations took place in nine different areas, which revealed a continuous stratigraphy from the early Middle Kingdom to the New Kingdom (around 1980/70 - 1410 BC). The Tell el-Daba archive consists of four parts: • AboutThisArchive_Archivinformation_E73 Contains documents with instructions for how to use the archive, as well as documentation material from the creation of the archive. It also includes instructions for datamanagement for future projects on Tell el-Daba. • PhysicalFeature_Befunde_S20 Contains documents on the archaeological evidence (‘archaeological objects’), arranged according to areas A-I to R-I, and with one folder containing documents on several areas. Documents include protocols and databases, drawings and maps, documentation of surveys, prospection and analysis. • MobileObjects_Funde_E19 This folder contains documents about the finds (inventory books, find sheets, databases, tables, fotos, drawings, wall paintings, analysis). • OtherDocuments_AndereDokumente_E73 This folder contains further documents (digital library, excavation logistics) and photo collections on various topics and photo collections which contain information on both, archaeological objects and finds.

Das Tell el-Daba Dokumentationsarchiv ist das digitale Archiv des österreichischen Langzeitgrabungsprojektes in Tell el-Daba, Ägypten. Das Archiv wurde im Rahmen des Projektes `A Puzzle in 4D´ erstellt (Österreichische Nationalstiftung für Forschung, Technologie & Entwicklung:DH 2014/12). In diesem Projekt wurden die Dokumentationsmaterialien, die am Institut für Orientalische und Europäische Archäologie (OREA) der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften ÖAW vorliegen, bearbeitet. Weitere Dokumentationsmaterialien befinden sich am Österreichischen Archäologischen Institut (ÖAI) in Kairo und am ÖAI in Wien. Das Archiv bildet die Basis für die Archivierung weiterer Dokumente der Ausgrabungen. Die Ausgrabungen in Tell el-Daba, Ägypten, fanden von 1966 bis heute statt (mit einer kurzen Unterbrechung aufgrund des arabisch-israelischen Krieges von 1970-1975) und wurden vom ÖAI unter der Leitung von Manfred Bietak und seiner Nachfolgerin Irene Forstner-Müller durchgeführt. Felduntersuchungen in neun verschiedenen Arealen brachten eine kontinuierliche Stratigraphie vom frühen Mittleren Reich bis zum Neuen Reich (ca. 1980/70 - 1410 v. Chr.) zutage. Das Archiv besteht aus vier Teilen: • AboutThisArchive_Archivinformation_E73 Enthält Dokumente mit Informationen und Anleitungen für die Benutzung des Archivs, sowie Dokumentationsmaterialien über die Entstehung des Archivs. Es beinhaltet außerdem Anleitungen für das Datenmanagement in zukünftigen Projekten zu Tell el-Daba. • PhysicalFeature_Befunde_S20 Enthält Dokumente zu den archäologischen Befunden („archäologische Objekte“), die nach Bereichen A-I bis R-I geordnet sind, und einen Ordner mit Dokumenten zu mehreren Bereichen. Zu den Dokumenten gehören Protokolle und Datenbanken, Zeichnungen und Pläne, Dokumentation von Vermessung, Prospektion und Auswertung. • MobileObjects_Funde_E19 Dieser Ordner enthält Dokumente zu den Funden (Inventarbücher, Fundblätter, Datenbanken, Tabellen, Fotos, Zeichnungen, Wandmalereien, Analysen). • OtherDocuments_AndereDokumente_E73 Dieser Ordner enthält weitere Dokumente (digitale Bibliothek, Ausgrabungslogistik) und Fotosammlungen zu verschiedenen Themen, und Fotosammlungen die sowohl Informationen zu archäologischen Objekten als auch zu Funden enthalten.
