Si la notion d’invisibilité sociale a donné lieu à des travaux importants et relativement nombreux dans le champ de la philosophie et des sciences sociales, le concept d’inaudibilité sociale, pourtant très proche, n’a en revanche pas fait l’objet d’une attention similaire. En partant de ce constat, l’article vise à interroger la relation entre les deux concepts et les phénomènes qu’il désigne, et défend la nécessité de leur articulation, contre une approche seulement analogique. Dans un deuxième temps, l’article se concentre sur la pensée d’Axel Honneth et met en évidence la centralité de la question de l’inaudibilité sociale dans son travail. Il s’agit ultimement de comprendre en quoi l’analyse de l’inaudibilité peut permettre d’éclairer le phénomène de l’invisibilité sociale.

While the notion of social invisibility has been the focus of significant and relatively numerous works in the field of philosophy and the social sciences, the concept of social inaudibility, although very similar, has not received similar attention. Starting from this observation, the article aims to question the relationship between the two concepts and the corresponding phenomena, and defends the need for their articulation, against a purely analogical approach. The article then focuses on Axel Honneth’s thinking, highlighting the centrality of the question of social inaudibility in his work. Ultimately, the aim is to understand how the analysis of inaudibility can shed light on the phenomenon of social invisibility.
