Dans la périphérie nord-est de la ville antique de Narbonne, un sondage limité a permis la découverte d’une mosaïque et de quelques enduits peints. Le pavement appartenant à un premier état antérieur au milieu du ier siècle est partiellement conservé. Il représente un damier noir et blanc, les cases blanches étant chargées d’un carré noir inscrit. Quelques enduits peints très fragmentaires, qu’on peut rattacher à un deuxième état, ont été prélevés dans la couche de destruction. Les éléments de décor à fond blanc, guirlandes, compartiments, ornent la zone supérieure d’une paroi. Une petite construction avec des éléments de clôture constitue une originalité. Les décors réalisés à la fin du iie siècle ont été détruits lors de l’abandon du quartier dans le courant du iiie siècle.

In the northern periphery of the ancient town of Narbonne, a limited investigation allowed the discovery of a mosaic and a few painted plasters. The first-period flooring, dated to before the mid-1st century, is partially preserved. It is decorated with a black and white checkerboard pattern, with a black square inscribed in each white square. A few, very fragmentary plasters painted during a later period were extracted from the destruction level. A white monochrome ground with garlands and compartments decorated the wall’s upper zone. A small building with a fence constitutes an original feature. The decorations dated to the end of the 2nd century were destroyed during the 3rd century when the area was abandoned.

Im Nordosten des antiken Narbonne wurden bei einer Sondierungsgrabung ein Mosaik und mehrere Wandmalereien entdeckt. Der flächenweise erhaltene Mosaikfußboden gehört in eine erste, vor die Mitte des 1. Jh. datierte Bauphase. Er stellt ein schwarz-weißes Schachbrettmuster dar, in den weißen Feldern ist jeweils ein schwarzes Quadrat eingearbeitet. Aus der Schuttschicht einer zweiten Phase wurden einige sehr fragmentarische Wandmalereien geborgen. Weißgrundige Dekorelemente, Girlanden und Fächer, zieren die Oberzone einer Wand. Eine Ädikula mit Elementen einer Umzäunung stellt ein originelles Element dar. Die Ende des 2. Jh. ausgeführten Dekore wurden bei der Aufgabe des Viertels im Laufe des 3. Jh. zerstört.
