Le Sarladais se caractérise par l'abondance de collines, les "pechs", dont l'origine "tropicale" est soupçonnée depuis longtemps par les géomorphologues. Ce point de vue est confirmé par l'étude présente qui met en exergue l'aspect crypto-karstique de la genèse du paysage sans pour autant oublier les fortes retouches plio-quaternaires apportées tant par l'enfoncement du réseau hydrographique que par les climats froids quaternaires. Les "pechs" du sarladais constituent aujourd'hui l'élément caractéristique de l'altération différentielle du karst.

The Sarlat region, or Sarladais, features a large number of hills knovn as "pechs". The "tropical" origin of the latter has long been suspected by specialists in geomorphology. This point of view is confirmed bu the present study which highlights the cryptokarstic aspect of the genesis of the landscape without overlooking the significant alterations brought about not only by the sinking of the hydrographical network but also by the cold climates of the Quaternary. Today the "pechs" of the Sarladais constitute the characteristic feature of the differential change of karst.

La region de Sarlat se caracteriza por la abundancia de cerros llamados local mente "pechs " cuya origen tropical estasospechada desde mucho tiempo por los geomorfologos. Este punto de vista esta confirmado por el estudio presente que destaca el aspecto cripto-karstico de la genesis del paisage sin por lo tanto olvidar los fuertes retoques plio-cuaternarios dados por el encajonamiento de la red hidrografica y los climas frios cuaternarios. Los "pechs" de la region de Sarlat constituyen hoy el elemento caracteristico de la alteracion diferencial del karst.
