L’Invention démocratique de Claude Lefort et l’Invention technique de Simondon s’ignorent respectivement l’une l’autre. Or, les logiques du politique et de la technique ne peuvent être dissociées. Cette contribution entend restituer ce que l’une doit à l’autre : en quoi les ordres symboliques ou « les formes de l’histoire » (Lefort) conditionnent la « culture technique » et son évolution et, inversement, en quoi les « objets techniques » conditionnent la réception du politique. La distinction de trois grands modes de légitimation – narration ; révélation ; délibération objectivante – permettra d’éclairer l’articulation entre objets techniques et régimes de légitimation. Une attention particulière sera portée à ce lien dans les conditions d’indétermination des démocraties puis à l’importance des logiques techniques dans l’individuation des collectifs.

Claude Lefort’s democratic invention and Simondon’s technical Invention ignore each other. Yet the logics of the political and technology cannot be dissociated. This contribution intends to restore what one owes to the other: in what way symbolic orders or “the forms of history” (Lefort) condition “technical culture” and its evolution and, conversely, in what way “technical objects” condition the reception of the political. The distinction between three main modes of legitimation – narration; revelation; and objectivist deliberation – will shed light on the articulation between technical objects and regimes of legitimation. Particular attention will be paid to this link in the conditions of indeterminacy of democracies and to the importance of technical logics in the individuation of collectives.
