Présentée au cours des dernières années, la théorie de la fin de la géographie, la théorie du monde plat et la théorie de la revanche de la géographie ont suscité un débat intellectuel parmi les géographes du monde nord-américain. L’article examine les éléments constitutifs de ces trois théories en les replaçant dans le contexte de la révolution numérique et de l’explosion des lieux. Ce débat renvoie à l’ultime frontière de la géographie contemporaine, à savoir la déterritorialisation dans un monde sans frontières et l’avènement du cyberespace. La prédominance d’une géographie à deux faces engendre une dialectique de nouvelle territorialisation.

Apresentada nos últimos anos, a teoria do fim da geografia, a teoria mundo plano e a teoria da vingança da geografia tem provocado um debate intelectual entre os geógrafos do mundo norte-americano. O artigo examina os elementos destas três teorias, colocando-os no contexto da revolução digital e da explosão das instalações. Esta discussão refere-se à última fronteira da geografia contemporânea, ou seja, desterritorialização em um mundo sem fronteiras e com o advento do ciberespaço. Submited in the course of the last years, the end of geography theory, the flat world theory and the revenge of geography theory gave rise to an intellectual debate among the North American geographers. The paper scrutinizes the constituent elements of these theories within the context of the digital revolution and the explosion of place. This debate refers to the very last boundary of geography, namely the deterritorialization in a borderless world and the rise of cyberspace. The primacy of a double-sided geography creates a dialectic of new territorialization.
