At the end of the summer of 2018, my colleague Muḥammad Jāzim, a Yemeni researcher at the French Centre for Archaeology and Social Sciences, sent me the first pages of an autobiographical manuscript entitled “Wahaj al‑dhākira” — “Spark of Memory” — written in 2017.
