Au xviie siècle, la mystique connaît son apogée au moment de sa condamnation par l’institution. Pour des raisons théologiques et sociales, la mystique doit trouver, avant son refoulement à la fin du siècle, des solutions avec le catholicisme. Cette situation, qui génère des formes de protestation radicale ou de compromis, pèsera lourd sur l’organisation en réseaux de ceux et celles qu’on dit « mystiques ». En suivant le cas paradigmatique du jésuite Jean-Joseph Surin, et en s’appuyant sur le vocabulaire de la sociologie religieuse, on verra comment se construit un « groupe volontaire spirituel » dont la protestation reste prise dans les limites de l’obéissance.

In the seventeenth century, mysticism reached its apogee while it was condemned by the institution at the same time. For theological and social reasons, it had to cope with Catholicism before it was suppressed at the end of the century. This situation, which generated forms of radical protest or compromise, weighed heavy on the networking of those who were called "mystics". Following the paradigmatic case of the Jesuit Jean-Joseph Surin, and using the vocabulary of religious sociology, we show how was constructed a "voluntary spiritual group" whose protest remained within the limits of obedience.
