Depuis plusieurs années, en Préhistoire récente du Proche-Orient, les chercheurs mettent en avant les phénomènes sociaux qui seraient derrière les innovations techniques à l’origine de la néolithisation. Cependant, ces phénomènes ne transparaissent dans les découvertes archéologiques que de façon encore plus ambiguë que les faits techniques qu’ils sont censés expliquer. L’article voudrait insister sur la nécessité de fournir la description détaillée de toutes les observations disponibles et de ne négliger aucune méthode d’analyse afin de cadrer le champ des hypothèses interprétatives.

In recent years, specialists of the Late Prehistory in the Near East are emphasizing the social changes they think were probably prior to the technological innovations known as the Neolithisation process. Nevertheless, social changes are represented in the archaeological record in an even more ambiguous manner than the technological changes they are supposed to explain. This paper underlines the need for detailed descriptive publication and in-depth analysis of the available data in order to guide as much as possible the interpretative hypotheses.

خلاصة – وضع باحثو عصور ماقبل التاريخ الحديث في الشرق الأدنى في مقدمة اهتماماتهم الظواهر الاجتماعية التي قد تكون وراء الإيداعات التقنية التي أدت إلى النولته. غير أن هذه الظواهر لا تتجلى في المكتشفات الأثرية إلا بطريقة أكثر التباساً من الأعمال التقنية والتي من المفروض أن تشرح تلك الظواهر. نصر في هذا المقال على ضرورة رفد الشروح التفصيلية بكل الملاحظات الممكنة، وعدم إهمال أي منهجية تحليل، بهدف توافق ضبط النظريات التفسيرية.
