Jean Chesneaux, « Quels nouveaux « universaux » pour notre temps ? », Transtext(e)s Transcultures
This article develops a critical thought on the fundamental issue of universality. In a historical, ethical and political standpoint, it aims at rethinking universals from biased antinomic universals such as the Enlightenment in its individualistic and colonialist form or from its technical and market oriented extension into globalisation. This critique does not amount to cultural relativism, but rather calls for a collective rediscovery which would be respectful of differences and diversity, which is to say of universals in the plural.
