Carl Linnaeus is an example of perseverance in the face of adversity. He was born in 1707 in Råshult, a small village in the province of Småland in Sweden. His father was the pastor of the village. From his childhood, he had a strong passion for the study of plants. Sent in 1717 to the school of a neighboring town, Växjö, he spent his time in the countryside looking for plants and did not focus on schoolwork, which was, in fact, rather limited.
