These data come from the NEEMSIS-2 (Network, Employment, dEbt, Migration and Skills in India Survey) wave carried out in 2020-21 among 631 households in more than 10 villages in the districts of Cuddalore and Kallakurichi (ex Viluppuram), in the rural region of Tamil Nadu (South India). This is the third wave of a multi-thematic household and individual survey (employment, financial practices, agriculture, education, migration, skills, social networks). The first wave is known as the RUME (RUral Microfinance and Employment survey) and took place in 2010. The second wave is NEEMSIS-1, which took place in 2016-17. Three documentation files in PDF format are provided: "ODRIIS_NEEMSIS2_manual", the survey manual explaining survey methodology, file descriptions and the content of files and variables; "ODRIIS_NEEMSIS2_HHquest", the household questionnaire; "ODRIIS_NEEMSIS2_indivquest", the individual questionnaire. Six Stata files (.dta) are provided: NEEMSIS2-HH; NEEMSIS2-loans_mainloans; NEEMSIS2-occupations; NEEMSIS2-migrations; NEEMSIS2-ego; NEEMSIS2-alters. To ensure anonymity, names and addresses have been removed. The name of the village has also been scrambled.
