Raymonde Monnier analyses the discourse of the speakers who, on 5 July 1793, carried the adhesion of the Parisian sections to the Constitution. The unanimity with respect to the unity of the Republic was not artificial. However, this notion of unity permitted the expression of a wide diversity of aspirations which prefigured the confrontations of the Year II. At this moment the popular discourse, formerly suspect, became legitimate, even when it spoke of the right to a subsistence and of a right to an existence.

Non fu fittizia Punanimità riguardo all'unità della Repubblica ; ma questa nozione d'unità permetteva l'espressione di un'importante diversità di aspirazioni, le quali avrebbero prefigurato gli scontri dell'anno II. II discorso popolare, sospetto non molto tempo fa, diventò allora legittimo, anché quando parlava del diritto ai viveri e del diritto all'esistenza.
