The analysis of the semantic field of the Latin names of ships in the documentation of the Crown of Aragon included in the Corpus Documentale Latinum Valencie (CODOLVA) allows to establishing a classification by semas which does not coincide exactly with the established typology based on derivative analysis of the nautical knowledge, nor the proposal from studies of the romance lexicography ; rather it points to a less net difference in a large number of terms between the Mediterranean technology (galea) and the Atlantic (nauis). Also, despite the limitations imposed by the own documentation, typology and scanned volume, and the analyzed time frame (13th to 15th centuries) provides some discriminats of this latin documentation : lignum, barcha, guarepus or nizardus.
