St-Romain de Surieu, the Surieu - Isère chapel... A Romanesque priory and a mill instaîled in the valley in the 13 tn- century, a new parish born at the end of the Middle Ages and a Romanesque chapel forgotten by the collective memory. Surieu, a Sunday tourist spot where the building of a car park after restoration of the old chapel and the future installation of a Carmélite community will discrupt the silence of this ancient camp. An exemplary rescue operation in the first year which will lead to the discovery of a kiln and its contents, dating from the end of the médiéval era. An historical study conducted in tandem uoith a topographical analysis of the former parish, which in the following year will further reveal the complex strata of successive occupations of the pro- montory. An exhibition and discussion on the spot to explain the meaning of this archeological research to schools and local inhabitants. Since then, Surieu has sunk back into a silence gallanty garded by its tower and ramparts.

St-Romain de Surieu, la chapelle de Surieu, Surieu... Un prieuré roman et l'installation d'un moulin dans la vallée au XIIIe siècle, une nouvelle paroisse créée de la fin de l'époque médiévale et une chapelle romane oubliée par la mémoire collective. Surieu, un site pour tourisme du dimanche où l'aménagement d'un parking après restauration de la vieille chapelle et l'installation future d'une communauté de Carmélites vont bouleverser le silence de cet ancien castrum. Une «opération exemplaire» qui en sauvetage va permettre de découvrir un four et son chargement de la fin de l'époque médiévale, la première année. Une étude historique menée en parallèle avec une analyse topographique de l'ancien mandement qui va mieux cerner l'année suivante la complexité stratigraphique des occupations succès1 sives du promontoire. Une exposition-animation sur les lieux qui aura pour but d'expliquer le sens d'une recherche archéologique avec écoles et avec habitants de la proche région. Depuis, Surieu, a retrouvé son silence vaillamment gardé par sa tour et ses remparts.
