Résumé En Fr

The analysis of the architecture and sculpture of the ancient abbey church of Caunes-Minervois reveals the main stages which allowed the constitution of this monument. Following a pre-Romanesque phase mainly represented by the remains of an apse of square plan, the Romanesque period bequeaths more important elements the construction of which spreads out over two centuries (XIth century, beginning of XIIth century) and testify of the high quality of construction on a regional scale. In the field of sculpture, the XIth century capitals are the most representative, but the vision of the whole sculptured production remains truncated because on account of the destruction of the Romanesque cloister.
