Protestanten und Republikaner in bonapartistischen Landen : die Protestanten aus der Aunis und der Saintonge (1870-1914). Am Ende des 19. Jh. gibt es im Departement Charente-Inférieure zwei Besonderheiten : Eine ziemlich große protestantische Minderheit und viele Einwohner, die noch treu zu Bonaparte halten. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es zu ermessen, welche Rolle die Protestanten bei der Verbreitung republikanischer Ideen zu Beginn der Dritten Republik hatten. Die mehrheitlich von Protestanten bewohnten Landstriche waren auch die, in der sich die republikanischen Ideen zuerst durchsetzten. Zahlreiche Protestanten waren als Volksvertreter ganz dem Dienst an der republikanischen « Marianne » verschrieben. Die Protestanten bilden die erste Gruppe, die schon in den 70er Jahren hinter der Republik steht. Danach finden wir sie immer wieder in den ersten Reihen des republikanischen Engagements : Sie verteidigen die republikanische Schulpolitik und später Alfred Dreyfus. Um die Jahrhundertwende finden wir sie als aktive Mitglieder der Ligen und republikanischen Kreise, jedoch nicht mehr unbedingt als zusammenhängende Gruppe.
Being Protestant and Republican in Bonapartist Country : the Protestants of Aunis and Saintonge from 1870 to 1914. At the end of the 19th century, Charente-Inférieure presented the double originality of sheltering an important Protestant minority and of maintaining strong Bonapartist loyalties. This article seeks to evaluate the weight and the role of Protestants in the republicanization of this department during the first decades of the Third Republic. The lands where Protestants were concentrated constitue one of the first areas conquered by Republican ideas. The numerous Protestants who won elective offices were massively engaged in the service of Marianne. Protestants occupied an important place among the first supporters of the Republic during the 1870s. They then can be found in the front ranks of Republican combats from the defence of Republican schooling to that of Alfred Dreyfus. At the turn of the century, they were still among the principal animators of Republican circles and leagues even if, from then on, they did not always speak with one voice.
À la fin du XIXe siècle, la Charente-Inférieure présente la double originalité d’abriter une importante minorité protestante et de conserver de fortes fidélités bonapartistes. Ce travail cherche à évaluer le poids et le rôle des protestants dans la républicanisation de ce département au cours des premières décennies de la IIIe République. Les terres où se concentrent les protestants constituent l’un des premiers espaces conquis par l’idée républicaine. Les nombreux réformés qui obtiennent des mandats électoraux s’engagent massivement au service de Marianne. Les protestants occupent une place importante parmi les premiers soutiens de la République dans les années 1870. Par la suite, de la défense de l’oeuvre scolaire républicaine à celle d’Alfred Dreyfus, ils se retrouvent au premier rang de la plupart des combats républicains. Au tournant des XIXe et XXe siècles, ils figurent encore parmi les principaux animateurs des ligues et cercles républicains même si, désormais, ils ne se font pas toujours entendre d’une même voix.
Ser protestante y republicano en tierras bonapartistas : los reformados de Aunis y Saintonge desde 1870 hasta 1914. A finales del siglo XIX, el Charente-Inférieure ostenta la doble originalidad de ser sede de una importante minoría protestante y de conservar muchos adictos al bonapartismo. Este artículo intenta valorar la importancia y el papel de los protestantes en la republicanización de ese departamento a lo largo de las tres primeras décadas de la Tercera República. Los territorios en los que se hallan los protestantes son uno de los primeros espacios en los que se da el republicanismo. Los numerosos reformados que salen en las elecciones se dedican al servicio de la República, siendo los protestantes los primeros en apoyar la República en los años de 1870. Luego, desde la defensa de la obra escolar republicana hasta el caso Dreyfus, están en las primeras filas en la mayoría de los combates republicanos. En el paso del siglo XIX al siglo XX, siguen siendo los principales caudillos de las ligas y de los círculos republicanos, aunque ya no haya unanimidad entre ellos.
