In the various long lists of soldiers of the African legio III Augusta, one finds the notes PR and SEQ which have, so far, been read as pr(incipalis) and seq(utor). However, since they designate men with identical names, often following each other directly, they should be read as pr(ior) or pr(imus) and seq(uens), added to distinguish the first from the second bearer of the same name.

Dans les diverses longues listes de soldats de la III e légion Auguste d'Afrique, on trouve les abréviations PR et SEQ qui jusqu'à présent ont été lues PR(incipalis) et SEQ(utor). Toutefois, comme elles désignent des hommes de mêmes noms qui se suivent souvent directement, il convient de les lire PR(ior) ou PR(imus) et SEQ(uens), ajoutées pour distinguer le premier du second porteur du même nom.
