An excavation of the Roman way Segodunum-Cessero, in its course in the necropolis of L’Hospitalet-du-Larzac (Aveyron), has made possible to discover three states of the road : built at the beginning of the 1st century A. D., it was made up of a strong rudus, supporting a “running stretch” formed of little blocks of stone ; it was restored a first time by the application of a new superficial coat made of small slabs ; finally, between 150 and 250 A. D., it was widered and covered with gravel. Under this Roman way existed possibly a first track of the Gallic time.

Une fouille de la voie romaine Segodunum-Cessero, à son passage dans la nécropole de L’Hospitalet-du-Larzac (Aveyron), a permis de reconnaître trois états de la chaussée : construite au début du Ier siècle après J.-C., elle est constituée d’un puissant hérisson supportant une « bande de roulement » en petits pavés ; elle fut restaurée une première fois par l’installation d’un nouveau revêtement superficiel constitué de petites dalles ; enfin, entre 150 et 250 après J.-C., elle fut élargie et gravillonnée. Sous cette voie romaine exista, peut-être, une première piste d’époque gauloise.
