3) The literatures of the South Celebes have remained up till now hardly studied at all. Ch. Pelras (C.N.R.S., Paris) gives here an initial general presentation of the Bugis literature, the least unknown thanks to the studies of Matthes, Kern, Cense, and Noorduyn. There exists an important written literature, in manuscript form, and a still living oral literature whose principal genres are rapidly reviewed here. Following that a glimpse of the principal themes is given : myths (primarily concerning the cultural hero Sawérigading) , history, juridical wisdom, didactic or religious texts, stories and lyric poetry.

3) Sampai sekarang kesusastraan-kesusastraan Sulawesl-Selatan masih sangat sedikit sekali dipelajari. Ch. Pelras (C.N.R.S., Paris) memberikan suatu gambaran yang sifatnya memper- kenalkan keseluruhan kesusastraan Bugis, yang sudah sedikit dikenal sekarang berkat penelitian-penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Matthes, Kern, Censé dan Noorduyn. Kita kenal suatu kesusastraan tertulis yang penting berupa naskah tulisan tangan dan kesusastraan lisan yang masih hidup sampai sekarang. Dalam tulisan ini berbagai bentuk dari kesusastraan tersebut dibicarakan secara singkat. Kemudian penulis memberikan keterangan-keterangan tentang tema-temanya yang penting : mitos (terutama berkisar pada "tokoh kebudayaan", Sawéri- gading), sejarah, naskah hukum, naskah yang mengandung ajaran hidup baik, naskah dikdaktif atau agama, cerita atau puisi.

3) Les littératures de Célèbes-Sud sont restées jusqu'à aujourd' hui fort peu étudiées. Ch. Pelras (C.N.R.S., Paris) donne ici une première présentation d'ensemble de la littérature bugis, la moins mal connue à ce jour grâce aux travaux de Matthes, Kern, Censé et Noorduyn. Il existe une importante littérature écrite, sous forme manuscrite, et une littérature orale toujours vivante dont on passe en revue rapidement les diverses formes. Puis est donné un aperçu des principaux thèmes : mythes (tournant principalement autour du héros culturel Sawérigading), histoire, textes juridiques, sapientiaux, didactiques ou religieux, ou poésie lyrique.
