Résumé En

Etienne Naveau The subject which expresses itself in Indonesian Otobiografi aims less at knowing itself in its essential truth than at being noticed in the eyes of others by conveying a certain image of itself to the public. The physical images, which are signs that open the texts to what is outside them, contribute to the construction of such a public image. Studying Indonesian Otobiografi through their illustrations then comes down to asking oneself questions on the relation between images and writings. In this study, E. Naveau focuses, among other examples, on General Soeharto's Otobiografi.
