Feldbegehungen in Bérus "La Poterie" (Sarthe). Ein Beitrag zur Erforschung der mittelalterlichen Töpferwerkstätten im oberen Maine. Die mittelalterliche Töpferwerkstatt von Bérus wurde im Lauf einer archäologischen Landesaufnahme durch Mitglieder des Vereins für Kultur und Archäologie von Oisseau-le-Petit entdeckt. Typisch für ihre Produktion sind grosse, offene Gefässe mit sog. Rebhühneraugen-Verzierung, aber sie stellte auch andere offene Formen her, sowie, in geringeren Mengen, Töpfe und Krüge. Beim derzeitigen Stand ihrer Erforschung kann diese Werkstatt ins 14. und 15. fh. datiert werden. Sie liegt im Nordteil des Département der Sarthe, ganz in der Nähe der Stadt Alençon. In diesem Gebiet wurden schon zwei andere Töpferwerkstätte entdeckt, die von Héloup (Ome), die ähnliche Ware wie Bérus produzierte, und die von Fyé (Sarthe), die alter war und vor allem unverzierte Töpfe und Krüge herstellte.

A Contribution to the study of Medieval Pottery workshops in the Haut Maine Region : Fieldwalking on the "La Poterie" site at Berus (Sarthe). Discovered in the context of a fieldwalking assignment by members of the Association Culture et Archéologie d'Oisseau-le-Petit, the Medieval pottery workshop at Bérus is characterized by the production of large open vessels with "œil de perdrix decoration ". Other open forms are also produced, and to a lesser extent, pots and jugs. This workshop, that we situate chronologically within the 14th and 15th centuries A.D. at this point of our work, is located in the north of the Sarthe department, very close to the town of Alençon. Two other pottery production sites have already been discovered in this sector, at Héloup (Ome), where the production is similar to that at Bérus, and at Fyé (Sarthe), an older site producing essentially plain pots and jugs

Découvert dans le cadre d’une mission de prospection-inventaire par les membres de l’Association Culture et Archéologie d’Oisseau-le-Petit, l’atelier de potier médiéval de Bérus est caractérisé par la production de grands vases ouverts décorés dits «à œil de perdrix» mais aussi d’autres types de formes ouvertes et, en moindre proportion, de pots et de cruches. Cet atelier, attribuable à ce stade de l’étude aux XIVe -XVe siècles, est localisé au nord de la Sarthe, très près de la ville d’Alençon, dans un secteur où ont déjà été découverts deux autres sites d’ateliers de potiers, celui de Héloup (Orne), dont la production est similaire à celle de Bérus, et celui de Fyé (Sarthe), plus ancien, produisant surtout des pots et des cruches sans décor.
