Philosophie - Konturen eines Faches an der Universität Wien im „langen 20. Jahrhundert“. Nach einem kurzen Rückblick zur Rolle der Philosophie als Fach- und Leitdisziplin im Rahmen der Philosophischen Fakultät seit der Gründung der Universität Wien wird die Entwicklung ab 1848 mit einem Schwerpunkt von der Ersten zur Zweiten Republik beschrieben. Dabei werden sowohl die personellen und institutionellen Entwicklungen zwischen Kontinuitäten und Brüchen behandelt, als auch eine thematische Analyse der philosophischen Forschung und Lehre im zeitgeschichtlichen Kontext vorgenommen. Diese Entwicklung spiegelt sich in der Rolle und Funktion der „Königsdisziplin“ Philosophie in der gleichnamigen Fakultät. Der Auflösungsprozess der klassischen Philosophischen Fakultät manifestiert die kognitive Transformation und den Funktionswandel der Philosophie im Verhältnis der Fächer bis zur Gegenwart. After a short review on philosophy as a key discipline since the founding of the University of Vienna in 1365 the development of this discipline is described mainly from 1848 onwards with a focus on the 20th Century. The personal and institutional breaks and continuities are characterized and a thematic analysis of the philosophical research and teaching in historical context is provided. A special focus on the development from the First to the Second Republic reveals the specific role and function of philosophy in the context of contemporary history. The process of a gradual modification of the Faculty of Philosophy up to the present indicates the changing meaning of a long term dominant “royal discipline”. Nevertheless, the restructuring and renewal of philosophy within the Faculty of Philosophy and Education as a pluralist subject and interdisciplinary research field since the beginning of the 21st Century appears as a significant turn with an increasing international visibility and appreciation. Après une courte présentation du rôle de la philosophie comme discipline fondamentale, au sein de la Faculté de philosophie, depuis la fondation de l’université de Vienne en 1365, nous nous intéressons à son évolution depuis 1848, et plus particulièrement au XXe siècle. Nous étudions les évolutions, entre ruptures et continuités, tant des personnes que des institutions, et procédons à une analyse thématique de la recherche et de l’enseignement philosophiques dans ce contexte historique. Cette évolution reflète le rôle et la fonction de la philosophie comme «discipline reine» au sein de la Faculté des lettres. Les mutations successives de la Faculté des lettres correspondent au changement de statut de la philosophie par rapport aux autres disciplines jusqu’à aujourd’hui. La restructuration et le renouveau de la philosophie dans le sens de l’interdisciplinarité, au sein de la Faculté des lettres et des sciences de l’éducation depuis les années 2000, lui apportent une nouvelle visibilité et une reconnaissance internationale.
