In „Austromarxismus und politische Ökonomie“ stellt Michael Krätke dar, wie die austromarxistische Schule mit dem Erbe der Marxschen Kritik der politischen Ökonomie umging. Da die Austromarxisten Marxismus in erster Linie als Sozialwissenschaft, nicht als politische Philosophie verstanden, war die Fortsetzung der Marxschen Kapitalismusanalyse und Ökonomiekritik für sie eine zentrale Aufgabe. Sowohl bei der Bearbeitung der ungelösten Probleme der Marxschen Ökonomie als auch bei der Analyse der jüngsten Entwicklungen und Strukturveränderungen des Kapitalismus haben die Austromarxisten Pionierarbeiten geleistet, die bis heute gültig geblieben sind.

Austromarxism and political economy. In his article “Austromarxism and political economy” Michael Krätke explains how the members of the Austromarxist school handled the heritage of Marx’ critique of political economy. As they understood Marxism as a social science in the first place, and not as a political philosophy, they saw it as their primary task to continue both Marx’ analysis of capitalism and his critique of economics. Dealing with the unsettled problems of Marx’ economics as well as analyzing the recent developments and transformations of capitalism, they achieved pioneering work which is largely valid until this very day.

L'austro-marxisme et l’économie politique. Dans cet article, Michael Krätke explique comment les membres de l’école austromarxiste ont traité l’héritage de la critique de l’économie politique de Marx. Parce qu’ils ont compris le marxisme de prime d’abord comme une science sociale et non comme une philosophie politique, ils ont pensé que leur tâche principale était de prolonger l’analyse du capitalisme proposée par Marx, comme sa critique de l’économie. En s’attaquant aux problèmes non résolus de l’économie de Marx et en analysant les développements et transformations récents du capitalisme, ils ont effectué un travail de pionnier qui garde sa valeur jusqu’à aujourd’hui.
