Neue Historiographie über Bruno Kreisky. Oliver Rathkolbs Beitrag widmet sich der Entwicklung des biographischen Diskurses über den ehemaligen sozialdemokratischen Bundeskanzler Bruno Kreisky. Rathkolb betont die Schwierigkeit, an eine so emblematische Persönlichkeit neutral heranzugehen, umso mehr als Kreisky durch die Veröffentlichung seiner Memoiren einen direkten Einfluss auf diesen Diskurs ausübte. Nach einem Überblick zu den verschiedenen Etappen dieser Historiographie wird der Akzent auf die Hauptthematiken der (Auto)Biographik gesetzt, insbesondere auf Kreiskys Auseinandersetzung mit der Entnazifizierungspolitik der Zweiten Republik, auf sein Engagement für die Neutralität und auf seine Unterstützung der sogenannten Opferthese. Über die geschichtspolitische Ebene hinaus werden auch die Wichtigkeit von Kreiskys Außenpolitik, seine Sozialreformen und sein avantgardistisches Verhältnis zu den Medien thematisiert. Diese historiographische Bilanz schreibt sich in eine breitere, kritische Reflexion über Österreichs politische Kultur ein.

About recent historiography on Bruno Kreisky. Oliver Rathkolb’s contribution deals with the evolution of the biographical discourse concerning the former social-democratic chancellor Bruno Kreisky. Rathkolb begins by showing how difficult it is to approach such an emblematic figure from a neutral point of view, even more since Kreisky took a direct influence on the biographical discourse by publishing his memoirs. After an overview of the different stages of the historiographical evolution, Rathkolb focuses on the main topics of the (autobiographical discourse, namely Kreisky’s stance towards the politics of denazification under the Second Republic, his engagement for political neutrality and his support of the so-called victim theory. Beyond the level of politics of memory, Rathkolb also stresses the importance of Kreisky’s foreign policy, his social reforms and his avantgardistic relations with the media. This historiographical state of the art is embedded in a broader, critical reflection on Austria’s political culture.

La contribution d’Oliver Rathkolb revient sur l’évolution du discours biographique consacré à l’ancien chancelier social-démocrate Bruno Kreisky. Rathkolb souligne d’emblée la difficulté d’appréhender un personnage aussi emblématique que Kreisky selon une perspective neutre, d’autant que celui-ci a eu lui-même une influence directe sur ce discours, notamment par la publication de ses mémoires. Après un aperçu des grandes étapes de l’évolution de l’historiographie, l’accent est mis sur les thèmes les plus centraux et souvent les plus controversés du discours (auto)biographique, à savoir le rapport de Kreisky à la politique de dénazification de la Seconde République, son engagement pour la neutralité et son positionnement en faveur de la thèse de la victime. Au-delà des questions de politique mémorielle, Rathkolb revient également sur l’importance de la politique extérieure de Kreisky, sur ses réformes sociales et son rapport avant-gardiste aux médias. Cet état des lieux historiographique s’inscrit dans une réflexion critique plus large sur la culture politique de l’Autriche.
