. - In the High Volta Republic residual hills fall in with pegmatitic outcrops (M. Mietton). In Ceylon the inselbergs are made either of hard rocks (charnockite) or of the less cracked ones (M. Louchet). In the south-african Bushveld, the unequal sensivity to weathering of the mafic and ultra-mafic rocks is puzzling : differencial erosion is probably indépendant from the mineralogical composition ; and the sedimentary-type textures (with respect to the process of crystal accumulation) and the permeability may provide a more satisfactory explanation of the scarp features (« cuestas ») which expresses the « rhythmic layering » in the scenery (M. Lageat).

A Ceylan les inselbergs sont faits soit des roches les plus dures (charnockites), soit de roches moins diaclasées (M. Louchet). Dans le Bushveld sud-africain l'érosion qui met en évidence les monoclinaux est plus guidée par la texture et la porosité des roches que par leur composition minéralogique (M. Lageat).
