. - The reafforestation with pine-trees has been carried out around Le Mans since the second half of the eighteenth century, first on heath lands, then on poor arable lands. Today, however, commercial outlets for pine-timber are diminishing and the size of land parcels is getting smaller and smaller : many towndwel- lers owning small plots of land neglect them as their only interest in them is a recreational one.

. - Des reboisements en pins ont été réalisés autour du Mans à partir de la deuxième moitié du dix-huitième siècle dans des landes, puis dans des terres cultivées pauvres. Mais aujourd'hui les débouchés du bois se réduisent et la propriété est de plus en plus divisée : beaucoup de petits propriétaires urbains négligent le bois car ils ne s'intéressent plus à leur parcelle que pour le loisir.
