. - The Holocene vegetation and landscape history of northern and southeastern Burkina Faso is described using palynological and photo interpretation studies. From 3000 BP up today, human impact seems to have been the dominant factor in the vegetation history of the Sahel. In the southeastern corner of the Gourma region the investigation on vegetation and landscape changes shows a change from dry forest formations to savannas and fallowlands. During the last decades, the gallery forests were destroyed by extensive clearings for cultivation.

. - L'évolution, à diverses échelles de temps, d'écosystèmes sahéliens et soudaniens, étudiée par la palynologie ou la télédétection, permet une nouvelle approche de la dynamique des paysages végétaux de l'Afrique de l'Ouest. Dans l'Oudalan, au Sahel burkinabé, on peut mettre en évidence la probable emprise humaine sur le milieu, depuis près de 3000 ans, tandis que dans le sud-est du Burkina Faso, autour de la Chaîne de Gobnangou, les processus récents d'intensification agricole aboutissent à une véritable Kulturlandschaft.
