. - In environmental research, the explanation and prediction depend on the accessibility and quality of data and methodology. One important question is : at which conditions is it possible to transfer the advanced research, from high-level laboratories to the centers for applied research which are responsible of the watch for Global environment. It is crucial to assure access to these data sets by scientific users in all parts of the world, particularly in using the international computer networks World Wide Web. One of the objectives of this paper consists in analyzing the performance of access tools like "Alta Vista " for identifying the list of URL where pertinent information systems are located in the field of the environment.

. - Le World-Wide Web assure un très large accès mondial aux données hypermedia disponibles sur Internet souvent par l'intermédiaire de «browsers» tels Mosaic ou Netscape. Par ces deux outils, on peut aisément accéder à des « Sites Index» lesquels identifient les serveurs entrant dans le champ des mots-clés choisis par l'utilisateur. «Alta Vista» nous semble actuellement le plus convivial des sites index et nous présentons ici les résultats obtenus en ouvrant des fenêtes sur les images et banques de données de l'environnement à toutes échelles.
