The statistical mechanics of a one dimensional multi-system with nearest neighbours interactions is developp-The purpose of this work is to test the statistical theory of solubased on the cell model which has been put forward by one of (I. P.) and his coworkers. In the simple case studied here all calmay be performed exactly.
