Résumé En

Summary. — The phenological behaviour of the main species of Oribatid mites in the litter layer and raw humus of a oak-hornbeam forest in Middle-Belgium was studied by the method of the «blocks-schemes ». The species living in the litter and in the humus are considered separatly. By comparison with the plant phenology, it seems that the demographic optima in the litter layer appear during the vernal-aestival periods and that the autumnal or prevernai periods are offering the best conditions for the population development in the raw humus. The shifting of these maxima, in the two habitats, allows to conclude to the eurythermic or chiefly stenothermic character of each species. The number of yearly generations and the thermic needs of the principal Oribatids observed come out of the interaction of these different specific behaviours.
