Résumé En

. — Accurate vibrational data were collected in order to derive the potential function of sulfur dioxide in the ground electronic state. Twelve bands were observed at high resolution in the infrared spectral region (1600-5200 cm-1) ; the band origins were obtained by means of a complete rotational analysis with a precision better than 0.04 cm-1. An improved value for v2 is obtained from our infrared measurements. A thorough examination of all possible sources of data, infrared, ultraviolet (absorption and emission), microwave and Laser, was made in order to obtain valid information on the harmonics of v2.
