Résumé En

The problem of the Kirkwood gaps in the asteroid belt has introgued astronomers and mechanicians for more than a century. In the framework of the restricted three body problem, if we assume that Moser's work implies that circular orbits at resonances of order < 4 evolve towards larger eccentricities, thus towards lesser semimajor axes, all gaps inside the main belt can be explained. Numerical results confirm this idea. In this model, only the formation of Hilda's group at the 3 : 2 resonance remains unexplained. We think that an improvement of the model would require the full use of statistical mechanics, in order to be able to make long time predictions about the asteroids' dynamics.
