Το άρθρο αυτό προτείνει μια λύση για μια ασυμβατότητα ενός υπολογισμού, που διαπιστώθηκε στις γραμμές 8 και 9 του διάσημου Λογαριασμού του Δίου για τα Πύθια (CID II, 139/ CID, IV, 57), όπου αναφέρεται ένας κατάλογος δαπανών για την προετοιμασία των Πυθίων του 246 π. Πράγματι, 270 μέδιμνοι χώματος, οι οποίοι πωλήθηκαν αντί 1 οβολού και ¾ ο μέδιμνος, δεν κάνουν 43 στατήρες και μισό οβολό, όπως αναγράφεται στο λίθο αλλά 39 στατήρες και τεσσερισήμισι οβολούς, σύμφωνα με το αιγινητικό αριθμητικό σύστημα, που χρησιμοποιούσαν οι λογιστές της Δελφικής Αμφικτυονίας. On a book-keeping error in the accounts of Dion. This article proposes a solution to an incoherent calculation identified on lines 8 and 9 of the famous Account of Dion relative to the Pythia (CID II, 139/ CID IV, 57), where a list of expenses occasioned by the preparation of the Pythian games of 246 B. C. are recorded. In effect, 270 medimnoi of earth sold at 1 ¾ obols per medimnos do not equal 43 staters and a half-obol, as is inscribed on the stone, but 39 staters and 4 ½ obols, according to the Aeginetan system used by the accountants of the Delphic Amphictyony. We propose a solution that may explain the inscribed amounts without needing to correct the numbers that can be read on the stone ; it is the accountant of the Amphictyony who should be charged with this miscalculation of which Agazalos, the master-mason who provided the earth for the xystos, took advantage.

Cet article propose une solution à une incohérence de calcul constatée aux lignes 8 et 9 du célèbre Compte de Dion relatif aux Pythia (CID II, 139/ CID, IV, 57), où est consignée une liste des dépenses occasionnées par la préparation des concours pythiques de 246 av. J.-C. En effet, 270 médimnes de terre vendus à 1 obole ¾ le médimne ne font pas 43 statères et une demi-obole, comme gravé sur la pierre, mais 39 statères et 4 oboles et demie, selon le système éginétique employé par les comptables de l’amphictionie delphique. Nous proposons une solution qui permet d’expliquer les montants inscrits sans introduire de correction à ce qui se lit sur la pierre ; il s’agirait d’une erreur de calcul imputable au comptable de l’Amphictionie, dont l’entrepreneur Agazalos fournisseur de la terre pour le xyste fut l’heureux bénéficiaire.
