Gottfredson’ s theory, one of the more actual theory in the field of vocational goal construction, is presented and discussed. The fondamental concepts in this theory are those of self representation, occupational representations, cognitive map of occupations, circonscription process, occupational accessibility, compromise process, and occupational aspiration. The last part of the paper is devoted to a critical evaluation of the strong points and also of the weaknesses of the theory.

La théorie de Gottfredson, l’une des plus récentes en matière de construction des projets professionnels, est présentée de manière très détaillée. Les concepts fondamentaux de cette théorie sont ceux de représentation de soi, représentation professionnelle, carte cognitive des professions, processus de restriction, accessibilité professionnelle, processus de compromis, aspiration professionnelle. La conclusion de l’article est consacrée à une analyse critique de la théorie.
